Pinterest Launches “Place Pins” To Ease Travel Planning & Mapping For Pinners.

Pinterest launched a new type of pin called “Place Pins” on 20th Nov, 2013 during an event at the company's headquarters in San Francisco, and invited more than 150 users to attend. Place Pins will enable users to map the locations of all the items shared on their pinboards. The new pins and maps will be available to mobile users on iOS and Android.

For example, if a person (user) pins a photo of a Pizza from Dominos in neighborhood, he can also add the location to a map on board. With the help of these location maps users can create pinboards while planning for a trip and can highlight the spots where they want to visit.

How to add Pinterest Map:
Users just need to click "add a map" on a new board or in the settings of an existing board to start adding Place Pins. Place pins can be added through Google Search Bar.

There are also some pins from early Pinterest partners, such as Airbnb and OpenTable, which already have the location included.

Pinterest Pinboards Can Also Be Shared:
Pinterest also announced a new send feature that lets users share their pinboards directly with others on the platform. Users now will also be able to share pinboards easily with friends.

For example, a Pinterest user wants to help his friend visitng to Mumbai from London for first time. User would create a board of amazing and cool places to visit in Mumbai and then would share with the friend directly on any other platform which would act as a personal travel guide for the person coming to Mumbai from London for the first time.

How To Increase Enagagement On Linkedin:

LinkedIn is a professional network and very good social tool.

Here are four steps to increase engagement on Linkedin:

1. Welcome Note:

Don’t just accept their request. Offer them a simple “Welcome to the group” note.

People want to know they’re talking to a person, so give it a personal touch of communication.

For the people who request to join your group(s) must be provided with an opportunity to ask questions about the group , its's member and relevannt question related to the industry.

2. Relevancy of content:

In social media “content is king”  but the content posted on linkedin should be of relevance and of value to the peers connected. The marketer should try to connect with the online publications and share the content or articles that are relevant and providing some important facts or updates in the industry.

3. Get engaged with the existing posts:

Adding new discussions, promos or job posts to your LinkedIn groups is great. The better way to engage with others on LinkedIn is to offer your expertise or professional advice(skills) .
Go through older posts and connect with peers that have posted a question. You may have the answer or you can refer them to someone else/a company that does. Also you can use the “Reply privately” option. It’s there for a reason.

4. Getting connected:

Getting connected doesn't mean just increasing the number of connections. The value of connecting on Linkedin lies in making meaningful connections.
